Katherine Taylor, IllustratorA graduate of the prestigious Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto, Katherine Taylor has been working as an artist for more than 20 years in the following media: acrylics, oils, watercolours, dyes, gouaches, marker rendering, pen and ink, collage, pastels and pencil. She also has mastered many computer graphic programs and skills for pre-press art and a sound knowledge of the print industry to develop prints, posters, magazines, and hardcover books. She also has designed artwork for trucks, banners, exhibits and displays. Before accepting a position with the Department of National Defence, Katherine had also marketed military books to highschools and universities, headed the advertising sales team, marketed and designed the Canadian military magazine, Esprit de Corps.

Katherine has also taught watercolour and oil painting classes extensively and has had several showings of her work across Canada. Twenty of her paintings are displayed in the Museum of the Regiments in Calgary. Two paintings are owned by the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa. Katherine’s work has also been on display in Washington at the Canadian Embassy.

Throughout her career, she has practiced her unique craft of bringing to life military studies in a manner that captures the drama and emotion of front-line soldiering - today and throughout Canada’s history. Katherine has worked as a member of the Canadian Forces Canadian Artists Program and was commissioned to paint CF personnel training in Germany in 1989 and on peacekeeping tours in Cyprus in 1990 and Croatia in 1993 - it was during the latter the she witnessed first-hand the battle of the Medak Pocket.

As a freelance artist, Katherine indulges her love of figure skating as she paints many commissions for sport, corporate, foundation and private clients. Katherine has also travelled extensively to the Far East, Europe, the Balkans and Australia. She has a new series of winter sport paintings for the 2010 Olympics. Stay tuned....
