Hélène Létourneau & Kevin Boczar, Jan 25 '10 - Ottawa Sports AwardsCongratulations to Hélène Létourneau & Kevin Boczar who were named Ottawa's Athletes of the Year for Figure Skating at the Ottawa Sports Awards Dinner, January 20, 2010.

The spotlight was on the city’s top amateur athletes and lifetime sporting heroes Wednesday night at Algonquin College for the annual Ottawa Sports Awards.

The event is in its 57th year. By coincidence, athletes from 57 sports were honoured for their performances in 2009. That’s in addition to 12 special awards, including Lifetime Achievement awards and plaques for some two dozen teams that won at the provincial, national or international levels last year.

Peter O'Brien "Bronze" - 2010 BMO Skate Canada Junior Nationals
Congratulations to Peter O'Brien - one of the top three skaters at Junior Nationals, January 11-14, 2010! His story... Most of you may know that this season I qualified for my fourth consecutive Canadian Junior National Figure Skating Championships. This season I was competing as a Novice Man, representing both the Eastern Ontario Section and the Stirling Figure Skating Club. This year my goal was a podium finish, as last year at the same level I finished 4th. I stayed in Novice for one more year with my sights set on that big maple leaf shaped podium that I so badly wanted to climb, as one of the best figure skaters in the country.
